HARMONIC SOCIETY

ALAN LOVEDAY TO APPEAR

Alan Loveday, the brilliant boy violinist from Palmerston North, who have been acclaimed throughout New Zealand as the most phenomenal child violinist heard in this country, will appear again with the Christchurch Harmonic Society at the Civic Theatre next Wednesday and Thursday. Alan Loveday, who is now just 10 years old, but who has lost none of his delightfully natural manners, will present entirely new numbers, including "SymEhonie Espagnolle," by Lalo, "Tamourin Chmous," by Kreisler, and "Le Canari," by Poliakin. He will be accompanied by Mr Noel Newson. The choir, in the absence of its regular conductor, Mr V. C. Peters, will be under the baton of Mr George M. Martin, who has arranged a really popular programme of part-songs, all new to the society, and including an original composition, the words by Mrs Ruby M. Wright, of Christchurch, and the music by Mr Martin himself. The more serious numbers will be two pleasing suites by the contemporary English composer Robin Milford—" The Passing Year" and "Songs of Escape." In addition, both men's and women's voices will be heard in separate items. Mrs Clarice Inglis will be soprano soloist, and Miss Blanche M. Atkinson will accompany the choir.
