Both Meetings Commence at 8 p.m. As he is the only Independent Candidate in the Election, Mr Ahlfeld, u he is elected, might play a very imof Municipal affairs. It is quite possible that the result of the Poll will place the party tickets in the position of equal numbers. Then the independent would hold the deciding vote and Mr Ahlfeld wishes his supporters to know that if this should be the position be will not go oyer to either party to give them the majority on the Council. No matter what position of strength either party obtain, the Independent makes one of the Opposition to proposals which are not to the benefit ol the people. In this position, too, the Independent is the most serviceable to the City, because he criticises and votes according to his mind-of-his-own against party-ticket councillors bound to party opinions and voting.
