This will be the first time that the borough will have representation on the Greymouth Harbour Board, which has been reconstituted. For the one seat on the Harbour Board, Mr W. UNUSUAL SITUATION IN MARSDEN RIDING

The following nominations for the Grey County Council and representatives of the county on other bodies have been received: — Grey County Council —Cobdcn riding: Mr J. Ryall: Red Jacks riding: Mr H. G. Carter; Maori Creek riding: Mr G. Blair: Paroa riding; Mr W. J. Hannan; Brunner riding: Mr J. Mulcare; Waipuna riding: Mr A. McDonnell; Hohonu riding: Mr A. Robinson; Nelson creek riding: Messrs T. Donnellan and W. Fisher. Only one nomination having been received for every seat, no election will be necessary except at Nelson Creek. All nominated are sitting members, except at Nelson Creek, where Mr Arthur Donnellan does not seek re-election. Grey County Council representatives on Greymouth Harbour Board — Messrs J. Mulcare and J. Ryall. Only two nominations having been received for the two seats, no election will be necessary. Both are sitting members. Grey County Council representatives on Grey Hospital Board —Messrs H. G, Carter. J. Mulcare. and A. Robinson. Only three nominations having been received for the three seats, no election will be necessary. All three arc sitting members. Combined district of part of the County of 'Grey and part of the County of Inangahua ■ representatives on the Grey Electric Power Board — Messrs W. Clayton. T. Donnellan, W. Fisher, J. Mulcare. and G. B. McInroe. Five nominations have been received for three seats, and an election will be necessary. Messrs Clayton and Mulcare are sitting members. Another sitting member, Mr A. Robinson, is not seeking re-election. . An unusual situation has arisen in the Marsden riding seat on the Grey County Council. No nomination has been received. The former sitting member. Mr W. T. Ogilvic, resigned some months ago.

Nominations for seats on the Westport Borough Council and Buller Hospital Board closed at midday yesterday. The Mayor (Mr J. Kilkenny) was returned unopposed for a third term of office. The following is the list of nominations (sitting members are indicated by an asterisk). All other candidates have been nominated by the Westport branch of the . New Zealand Labour Party. The inconvenien.t position of the Ngakawau Post Office for the residents of Hector and Ngakawau. was mentioned at a recent meeting of the Hector branch of the New Zealand Labpur Party and it was decided to bring the matter before the Postmaster-Gen-eral (the Hon. F. Jones). Mr Jones communicated with the postmasters at Granity and Millerton who met a deputation comprising Messrs S. Johnston, Poynter, J. Edwards, S. Barnes, and I. Tyler. They presented a petition signed by 99 per cent, of the residents of Hector and Ngakawau requesting that the post office be transferred to a more central site.
