NEW ZEALANDERS ASSUEB) OF WELCOME
AUCKLAND. April 11
A magnificent welcome awaits tee New Zealand contingent of returned soldiers, who will leave next Tuesday from Wellington for the Anrar Day parade in Sydney, said Messrs Charles Burton and C. R. Stanley, representing the returned soldiers and sailors of Australia, who arrived by the Awasen to accompany the 1800 men who win make the trip. Mr Stanley is a New Zealander, formerly of Te Aroha, and Mr Burton served with the Australian infantry. They were met by the Hon. W. Perry, president of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association, also fay Mr B. J. Jacobs. Dominion vice-pre-sident, and Mr R. Tnng. of the Auckland Returned Soldiers’ Association. “Sydney will be en fete when the New Zealanders arrive,” said Mr Stanley. “All the hotels already are booked out There will be the greatest cumber of visitors ever seen in Sydney”
Mr Burton said that 1370 men would sail on the Monowai and Mauneanu, from Wellington at 8 pm. on Tuesday, while 200 would travel independently by the Awatea, leaving the following day. •
