The markihg o:( the main bridge through the borough as a guide to traffic was discussed at the fortnightly meeting of the Kaiapoi Borough Council last evening, when it was decided to have a white line down the centre of the roadway. The Town Clerk (Mr R. J. Smith) reported that eight dwellings had been completed under the council’s No. 3 housing loan of £6OOO at a cost of £5662 15s 6d. The loan was for 20 years. Before calling for tenders for the annual cleaning of the borough drain it was decided that the works committee make an inspection of the river outlet to Mclntosh's drain with the object of having this work included in the contract if necessary. The financial statement showed that receipts for last meeting amounted to £402 7s lid. There '.vas a credit balance of £516 18s 10d. Accounts passed for payment totalled £ll6O 11s sd. __________
