TO EDIT LIVY FOR OXFORD PRESS
HONOUR FOR AUCKLANDER
(non oca on oobbbwoksut.)
LONDON. March 16.
The editorship of the Oxford text of Livy, begun in 1900 by Professors Conway and Walters, has been offered to Mr A. H. McDonald, formerly of Auckland, and lately of Nottingham University College. After Professor Conway’s death, this work was carried on by the late Mr S. K. Johnson. Four volumes have been issued and there are three to come. The edition has a unique reputation for its care in giving information about manuscripts, and it is a great responsibility and honour to be chosen to continue it on the same scale and with the same standards of accuracy. Mr McDonald is a former Post-Grad-uate Scholar in Arts of the University of New Zealand and Professor Conway was his external examiner. In ’931 he did a certain amount of col- ' of Livy texts lor him.
