BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION
INCREASED SUBSIDY FROM THE STATE (VMBM IWOCIATIO* TBLMBAX.) WELLINGTON, April 11. An increased State subsidy towards the construction of highway bridges of £3 for £1 is now available, according to a statement issued by the Minister for Public Works (the Hon. R. Semple) in Wellington to-day. In future at least 75 per cent of the cost of highway bridges will be provided by the State from its roading fund, and local authorities will benefit by a reduction in their contributions.
