TAXI FARES ON RACE DAYS
ALTERATION APPROVED
Minimum taxi fares of 6s to Riccarton and New Brighton, and of 3s 6d to Addington are to be charged on
race days, according to a decision made yesterday by the Christchurch Metropolitan Licensing Authority. This decision, announced by the chairman of the authority (Mr T. Milliken), was made after a deputation of city taxi interests had waited on the authorit . Mr Milliken said that the deputation had pointed out, under the present charges, it would be possible for one passenger to insist on being taken to Riccarton on race days for 2s 6d. The authority had decided that there should be a minimum fare for one or
two passengers to Riccarton and New Brighton on race days equivalent to l he taxi-meter tare, which is 6s. The rate of 2s 6d a passenger would apply when there were more than two passengers. The minimum fare to Addington would be 3a 6d, this being the taxi-meter fare.
