OXFORD SHOW

INCREASE IN ENTRY AND ATTENDANCE

GOOD DISPLAYS OF PUREBRED SHEEP

An increase of 290 entries on last year was a satisfactory feature of the annual show of the Oxford Agricultural and Pastoral Association which was held yesterday.' The total number of exhibits was 1350. In quality the show was equal to that of past years. Some sections wore superior to anything yet exhibited at Oxf°ThP sheen displays in the Corriedale and Southdown sections were outstanding, there being 52 and 60 entries respectively. Many of them showed no effects verse weather earlier m the season. There was good support from well-known breeders whose stock was equal to anythim, exhibited elsewhere in Canteibiny. The Shropshire entry easily exceetlec that of former years the large number sent in by W. James Reid won both championships in the Corriedale section with sheep well up to the standard of metropolitan A ram from J. and S. Madeley and a ewe sent by L. D. Adams, secured the cham pionships in the Southdown pe:ns «oek and fat sheep were not up to the stand ard of former years. E J. Grimsey was a large exhibitoi in til edraught-horse section. He won both championships. The light horses Provided good competition, and an exhibit uj a. Gillanders was awarded the championship for hacks. The champion harness horse was shown by F. W. Jarman.; There were no exhibits of pigs, ano the number of flock sheep was only half that of last year. In the root section the potato exhibit was above the aveiage. The gate was £67 7s 6d. an increase ol £5 8s on last year. But for threatening weather in the morning this amount would have been exceeded. The weather improved greatly in the afternoon.
