HEADMISTRESS APPOINTED

CRAIGHEAD SCHOOL The position of headmistress of Craighead Diocesan School (Timaru) has been accepted by Miss Helena J. Clarkd? M.A.

Miss Clarke is senior mistress and house mistress at St. James’ School, West Malvern, Worcestershire. She is to take up her work at Craighead in October.

TOWN AND COUNTRY GUESTS

Miss Margaret Johnstone and Mr James Coop, whose marriage will take place this afternoon, were the guests of honour at a very enjoyable 5 o’clock party, given at Warner’s Hotel yesterday, by a number of their friends, who will be the bridesmaids, best man, and groomsmen at the wedding. They were Misses Margery Sutton. Barbara Coop, Dorothy Harrison, Anne Hay, Messrs Jock Cqop (Kaituna), John and Malcolm Coop (Gisborne), James Hewlett, and Rawson Davison. The guests were Miss Johnstone and Mr Coop, Mr and Mrs W. T. S. Johnstone, Mr and Mrs W. S. Allan, Mr and Mrs Claude Newton, Mr and Mrs Richard Hiatt, Dr. and Mrs H. Turner Jennings, Mr and Mrs Richard Morten, Mr and Mrs H. O. Hewlett, Miss Jean Mcßae, Miss Shona DampierCrossley and Mr W. Dampier-Crossley, Misses Elspeth Burbury, Nell Morten, Helen Harris, Alison Beadel, Marjorie Hill, Linda Davidson, Quita Cordner, Messrs Herbert Black, and Garth Carey. HARVEST SERVICES AT BALCAIRN St.. John’s Anglican Church, Balcairn, was decorated with flowers, greenery, fruit, grain, and vegetables for the annual harvest thanksgiving service. The Rev. F. N. Taylor preached to a large congregation. Special hymns were sung. Miss'E. Hurley was organist. The produce has been forwarded to St. Saviour’s Orphanage, Christchurch.
