BADMINTON
* CANTERBURY CLUB ELECTION OF OFFICERS There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Canterbury Badminton Club held recently-. The committee reported that the club was in a sound financial position and had enjoyed a very successful season last year. The club had been unfortunate in losing its old courts, but had been able to secure good premises in the Papanui Town Hall. The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr R. Gill; vice-presidents, Messrs P. Gill, A. L. Power, T.. G. Anderson, and G. Finney, sen.; club captain, Mr J. G. Power; deputy-club captain, Mr K. Samms; women’s captain, Mrs Bates; secretary and treasurer, Mr L. Jones; committee, Mesdames Skellerup, Bates, McCausland, and Miss J, Power, Messrs V. Skellerup. J. O’Brien, O. Bates, D. Johnston, and M. Kidd; delegates to the Canterbury Badminton Association, Mrs Bradshaw and Messrs J. O’Brien and L. Jones. The opening night was fixed for Monday, April 4. .i>. il.si-J.Ti. .i. Y.W.C.A. CLUB MEETS Last night the Young Women’s Christian Association Badminton Club held its initial meeting for this year. Mrs F. Beebe presided. The progress of the club during last season was reviewed, and many new plans for the coming year were discussed, foremost amongst these being the formation of a combined club with a limited membership. ' The opening night was fixed for April 26. ________________
