ANNUAL TOURNAMENT TEAMS FOR SATURDAY’S MATCHES The .Christchurch Polo Club will hold its annual tournament for the Stead, Rhodes, and Junior Cups on the South Hagley polo ground on Saturday at 2 p.m. The holding of the Sayile Cup tournament in Christcnurch last year aroused fresh interest in polo in Canterbury, and, as a result, at this year’s tourney two teams from the Amuri Polo Club will take the field. A few years ago the Amuri Club re &u----larly sent strong teams to compete, and their return to competition play is ereatlv welcomed. , . S There has also been a strong revival in Fairlie, where the Pareora Polo Club now has its headquarters and where there are 12 or 14 players. Pareora has sent only its A team to this tournament, and with the players im * proved playing ability and combination they are expected to give the Christchurch A team a very hard match for the Stead Cup, which has been held by Christchurch since 1926; before that the cup (which carries with it the polo championship of the South Island) had been held by the old Pareora team. The tournament will continue into next -toeek, when matches for the Rhodes Cup will be played, and Saturday’s programme and teams are as follows: ,~ 2 p.m.. Stead Cup—Pareora (H. H. Elworthy (1), T. Parker (2), B. Murray (3) (captain), C. A. Parker (4) v. Christchurch A Sir B, F. Stewart (1), R. M. D. Johnson (2), G. H. Grigg (3), D. W. J. Gould (4), (captain). 3.30 p.m..
