RAM AND EWE FAIRS

ALBURY

[THE PRESS Special Service.] TIMARU, March 18. Prices were a little easier at the Albury ewe fair held to-day. The entry of 15,000 ewes comprised all genuine station drafts, but many of the lines penned were showing the effects of the wet season, and the yarding on the whole was not up to the usual Albury standard. There were more 'passings than at recent fairs, but some lots passed sold privately, and there was a good clearance. Good two-tooth, with Romney cross breeding, were keenly sought, but prices showed an easing on Fairlie of about Is 6d to 2s. Top price was 37s 6d, obtained for a line of 50 well-grown crossbreds, sold for Mr William Simpson, and 70 Romney cross brought 365-6 d. Ewe lambs sold firmly. Top price. 22s 6d, was obtained for a line of 100 Romney three-t quarterbred cross sold on behalf of A, Dale. The demand was keen for lines of good Romney ewe lambs.
