A novel idea is being developed by Mr Frederick Shipman, the well-known theatrical entrepreneur. As announced in an advertisement to-day, Mr Shipman is .planning to bring over a number of‘notable performers to give a series of “Personality Concerts” in the Radiant Hall, starting on March 23, and continuing at intervals of one month until.. June If}., Mr Shipman has. in the past -brought, such world-famous artists as Madame Noidica, Mischa Elman, Paul Dufault, and Althouse and Middleton to this country. For his concerts he has chosen first, Howard Milholland, humorist and impersonator, a famous American radio performer, assisted by Eva GS#cia. a Spanish pianist who will give solos as well as furnishing the musical background for many of Mr Milholland’s offerings. Mr Milholland was formerly programme manager of the Pacific division of the great National Broadcasting Company of America. The second attraction is Leona Flood, “the girl genius of the violin,” who is making her first visit to the Antipodes, and. has played as soloist with many leading European orchestras. With her will be Karl Wolden, pianist. The third personality is Miss Grace Adams East, who plays the trumpet, and has won a great reputation by her concerts and broadcasts. Paul M. Coole, the pianist, who has toured Germany, France, and the United States, comes with her. The final concert of the series will be given by Barre Hill, the famous baritone who has sung in opera in New York and Chicago, and was singing lead with the 1935 Ziegfeld Follies. He will be accompanied by Hale Clifton, pianist. For the four concerts special concessions are offered, and there is a plan by which a small deposit will reserve any seat in the Radiant Hall.
