ANNIE AUTUMN LEAVES FOR THE WORLD
Aunt Amelia whirled Lady Gay off to the Edge of the World the other day. Here Mrs Year lives in a cosy cottage with her four children. Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Wtn *Annie Autumn was just preparing to leave for the world when Lady Gay and Aunt Amelia arrived. She had packed her suitcase, and donned her prettiest frock, which ts of russet gold, with tiny berries at the hem. i “ Good-bye , everyone!” she cried, waving her hand, as she went down the little path to the gate. “Good-bye, good-bye, mother. Good-bye, Susan Spring. Yd)u won’t be needed for a long time yet.” , , „ ,„„ , . T ,t> . “But I shall” said Willie Winter, with a mischievous look, and 11l bring Jack trost with me,. Good-bye, Aut.!” ... . Mrs Year was shocked. “How often have I told you that Ido not like such names r the said. “Your sister is Annie Autumn. Please remember that.” , She went down to the. gate with her daughter. Be sure you use the right paints, she said. “And see the birds have plenty of berries for winter—and take care of yourself, my dear. ■ Good-bye, Aut.!” ... . “You’ve said it! You’ve said it!” cried Spring and Winter, rocking with laughter. “Good-bye, Annie! Good-bye, Aut.!” . Then she was gone from the Edge of the "World, but yottll see her soon. 1 LADY GAY.
