PRE-WEDDING PARTIES

Miss Doreen Anderson, whose marriage takes place shortly, was entertained at an enjoyable party held at the home of Miss Joy Harris (St. Albans). Competition caused much amusement, and during the evening Miss Anderson was presented with a picture for her future home. Those present included Misses Doreen Anderson, Joy Harris, Jeane Lynch, Molly Meyrick, Rhona Weavers, Kathleen’McNamara, Mavis Legg, and Willis Carpenter. Miss Joan Norrie invited guests to bring “red and cream’’ gifts to the parly which she arranged in honour of Miss Anderson. The party was held at Miss Norrie’s home in Weston road, and the time passed pleasantly with competitions and musical items. Those present were Misses Doreen Anderson, Joan Norrie, Jeahe Lynch, Hida McCausland, Mary Thomlinson, Margaret Moyle, Shirley Norrie, Betty Harrison, Rona Nicholson, Peggy Johnstone, Barbara McKillop, Lois Mitchell, and Mrs J. Edmonds. Miss Jeane Lynch held a buffet tea at her home in St. Albans in honour of Miss Doreen Anderson, and guests brought green gifts for the new home. A Victorian posy was also presented to Miss Anderson by her friends. Those present included Mesdames H. Anderson, J. M. Lynch, J. McLaughlin, Legg, Scobel (Dunedin), J. Lilley, C. K. Phillips, Misses Doreen Anderson, Jeane Lynch, Betty Harrison, Peggy Johnstone, Barbara - McKillop, Joy Harris, Joan Norrie, Sadie Lilley, Joan Anderson, Hilda McCausland, Molly Meyrick, Mavis Legg, Rhona Weavers, Willis Carpenter, Kathleen McNamara, and Lola Lilley. Mrs A. A. Mitchiell and Mrs W. Howard organised a surprise party held at the home of Mrs H. Anderson in honour of Miss Doreen Anderson.

“Pantry” gifts were brought by the guests, who included Mesdames H. Anderson, A. A. Mitchell, W. Howard, McCausland, Kaye, Banks, A. Syme, Clark, Misses Crawshaw, Doreen Anderson, Marian Ulrich, Rita Berry, Joy Harris, Lois Mitchell, Jeane Lynch, S. Hartunond, Joan Anderson, Barbara McKillop, M. Hammond, Margaret Aitkenhead, Ivy McClelland, and May McClelland.
