British Highway Laws The highway laws of England and Wales are to be reviewed by a committee of 18 members under the chairmanship of Lord Amulree, and appointed by the Ministries of Transport and Health. The committee will codify the laws and suggest amendments to secure simplicity, uniformity, and conciseness. It is expected that the work will take about two years. The need for some codification is shown by the fact that the list of statutes at the Stationery Office, still in force, includes 50 Highway Acts going back to 1530, but most were passed in the last 40 years.
