"Raise the child that he may speak," commanded Pharaoh. As Mingi lifted his eyes, he saw the double crown of the Pharaoh, which showed that he ruled Upper and Lower Egypt—a white crown and a red crown. He saw the rich purple tapestries behind the throne, and the blue ceiling, and, as the Pharaoh extended his hand, motioning Mingi to stand, he saw a huge ring of ruby. Mingi had never before seen the Pharaoh in all his grandeur, but he was not afraid. "What dost thou wish?" asked the monarch. "Oh, great king, my sister did look within the sacred temple walls. Great and glorious Pharaoh, she will be imprisoned within the temple chamber," said the boy, "And is the punishment too light?" Though the king's face was grave, his voice was not unkind. "I have come to offer myself as thy willing slave so that Akkara mat go free."
