PORT OF GREYMOUTH [THE PRESS Special Service.] GREYMOUTH, March 4. The Kartigi, unable to sail last night through too much set on the bar, sailed at noon to-day for Auckland. The Poolta is loading for Petone, Miramar, and Wellington, and will sail to-mor-row. The Kaimai arrived at 10 o'clock • this morning from Westport to complete loading for Napier and Gisborne. The Totara is loading % at Bruce Bay for New Plymouth and will sail to-morrow. The Gabriella is now expected to leave Wellington on Monday for Greymouth and is due on Tuesday night to load timber for Sydney and Newcastle, The Titoki will load cement at Tarakohe to-day and will sail for Greymouth, via Wellington. She is due here on Wednesday to load - for Westport, Nelson, and Tarakohe. PORT OF WESTPORT [THE PRESS Special Service.] WESTPORT. March 4. The Te Aroha arrived from Wellington and sailed yesterday for Little Wanganui and Wellington. The Waimea is expected on Saturday from Nelson. The Canopus is expected from Auckland on Monday. The Kaimai, part-loaded for Gisborne. sailed yesterday afternoon for Greymouth to complete for Gisborne and Napier. The Wingatui is loading to-day for Wellington and is expected to sail tonight.

The Kakapo arrived early this morning from Auckland and is loading for Lyttelton and Wellington, sailing to-mor-row for Lyttelton. High tide at Westport to-morrow ■will be midday and 03 ajm. (New Zealand standard time). PASSENGERS BY AIR Passengers by Cook Strait Airways? West Coast service yesterday were:— Greymouth-Wellinijton: Mrs Taylor and Mr F. Slee. Greymoutii-Nelson: Mr W. Waters and Mr J. Pye-Smith. SHOP ASSISTANTS' PICNIC The Westport shop assistants held their annual picnic at Cape Foulwind yesterday, a large crowd taking the run out by bus to the popular seaside resort. The committee had arrangements we]l in hand, and a big programme of races and novelty events was run off. The children were well catered for, sweets and refreshmenti being provided. ENGINEER NOT YET APPOINTED From various parts of New Zealand, 14 applications were received by the Greymouth Borough Council for the position of assistant drainage engineer. The applications were considered at the monthly meeting of the council held on Thursday evening, but no appointment has yet been made.
