I HIGH SCHOOL SWIMMING ' '■ SPORTS A swimming carnival, organised by the Murchison Swimming Club and the District High School staff, was held in the school baths recently. The following are the results:— Boys (seven and eight years): Stan Norris 1, Bill Hagen 2. Girls (seven and eight years): Mavis Jagger 1, Miriam McCaa 2. Boys (nine years): Ken. Horner 1, Gordon Brooks 2. Girls (10 years): Isabel Jagger 1, Thelma McCaa 2. Boys (11 years): Rus. Berryman 1, Dick Hutchings 2. Girls (11 years): Lorna Fleming 1, Nola Mahood 2. Girls (12 years): Olive Norris 1. Mabelle McCaa 2. Girls (13 years): Mavis Fleming 1, Madeline Gard 2. Boys (14 ana over): Bill Natder 1, Maurice Gard 2. Girls (14 and over): Pearl Lester 1, Val Lester 2. Boys' long dive: Rex Cook 1, Colin Peacock 2. Boys' fancy dive: Bill Nalder 1, Rex Cook 2. Girls' long dive: Mavis Fleming 1, Madeline Gard 2. Boys' neat dive: Maurice Gard 1. Aubrey Watson 2. Girls' neat dive: Mavis Fleming 1, Lbrna Fleming 2. Boys' championship, final: Colin Peacock 1, Gwyn Thurlow 2. Girls' championship, final i. Mavis Fleming 1, Val Lester 2. Boys' consolation (seven to nirre years): Barry McAuliffe 1, Ken Watson 2. Girls' consolation (seven to nine years): Lois Tyley 1, Joan Broad 2. At the conclusion of the carnival the head teacher, Mr R. W. Moir, tendered his appreciation- to the swimming club for valuable assistance, and their donation of prizes, and paid special tribute to the donors of the championship medal and cup, Messrs K. J. Holyoake, M.P., and W. Tall, of Murchison. The president of the club, Mr T. Gilooly, acknowledged the thanks.
