The Minister for Public Works and Transport (the Hon. R. Semple), who had been in Christchurch since Saturday, left for Wellington by the steamer express last night.

Mr A. M. Satterthwaite returned to Christchurch from the north on the inter-island steamer yesterday morning.

Mr H. S. E. Turner, manager for New Zealand of the New Zealand Refrigerating Company, Ltd., was an arrival by the inter-island steamer from the north yesterday morning. The Hon. J. K. Archer, M.L.C., returned to Christchurch from the north on the steamer express yesterday morning.

Mr C. Shann, branch superintendent of the Liverpool and London and Globe Insurance Company, Ltd., Christchurch, has been appointed district manager for the Manawatu, Taranaki, and Hawke's Bay districts, with headquarters at Palmerston North. He will leave to-day to take up his new appointment.
