Bishop West-Watson left for Wellington last evening by the steamer express. Lord and Lady Cochrane of Cults arrived by the steamer express yesterday morning. Group Captain and Mrs Cochrane were passengers from the north yesterday by the interisland steamer. Mr A. D. Davidson has been appointed temporarily to the staff of the Christchurch West High School. Mr John Barr, librarian of the Auckland Public Library, has returned to Auckland after a tour of the South Island. Professor William Bragg, Director of the National Physical Laboratory, and a son of the eminent scientist, Sir William Bragg, has been elected to succeed Lord Rutherford as Cavendish Professor on, Experimental Physics at Cambridge University.—British Official Wireless. Mr L. V. Brian, president of the Canterbury and Westland Tobacconists’ Association, and vice-president of the New Zealand Federation of-Tobacconists, left for Wellington last night to attend an executive meeting of the federation.
