ROPE-HOLDERS’ SOCIAL

A gathering of the "rope holders" and friends of the Oxford Terrace Baptist Church was held at the home of Mrs J. Jeffrey (Hills road). Mrs Newell and a band of willing helpers’ are to be congratulated for arranging an excellent programme of: song, dance, and elocutionary items, presented during the afternoon.' In a short opening address, Mrs C. C. Holland spoke of the good work done by the “Rope Holders.” The sum of £3 2s 6d was realised from the sales tables, and the money will be added to the missionary funds. . A feature of the afternoon’s programme was the maypole dancing by girls under the direction of Mrs Newell.
