POWER FOR TE PIRITA
REPRESENTATIONS FROM RESIDENTS LETTER TO MALVERN BOARD Advice that he had received representations from a group of residents in Te Pirita for a supply of electricity was received at the monthly meeting of the Malvern Electric Power Board from the Chief Electrical Engineer of the Public Works Department (Mr F. T, M. Kissel). The board agreed that it be suggested to 'the Chief Electrical Engineer that the persons interested petition the board for costs and conditions of a supply from the board’s mains, and the board would then be in a position to give consideration to their requirements. The engineer and secretary (Mr H. H. Barrs), in his monthly report, stated that the absence of adequate pole supplies had enabled the linesmen to complete the renewing of house service fuses in the Greendale district. Defective poles which required replacing urgently had been replaced during the month, the total attended to being 29. The report also mentioned an inspection made during the month of the dump of rejected poles by two officers of the State Forestry Department of New South Walgs. It was hoped that with the inspection in New Zealand a more uniform and better type of pole would be coming forward from Australia in subsequent shipments. It was resolved to add the 10 per cent, additional charge to all electric power rates for the current year which remain unpaid after March 10. Those present were Messrs John Deans (chairman), H. C. Amyes, G. Begg, and G. Hall.
