LABOUR CANDIDATE FOR TEMUKA
■ ♦ SELECTION OF MR J. A. KEARTON REPRESENTATION COMMITTEE MEETING Interest in the coming elections has been stimulated by the selection of Mr J. A. Kearton as the official Labour candidate for the Temuka electorate. Arrangements were made for the new candidate to visit the various centres in the electorate, accompanied by Mr 11. E. Herrmg, M.P. for MidCanierbury, when members of the Temuka Labour Representation Committee met at Geraldine on Thursday evening. Mr J, Fifield presided. It was stated that addresses would also be given by Mr Herring at the meetings, which will begin on February 14. Centres selected for the meetings were Geraldine, Hilton, Clandeboye, Temuka, Mount Somers, and Pleasant Point. National Party Activity Activity is also becoming evident In National Party circles, and regular meetings of members are being held at Geraldine. Arrangements have been made for Mr T. D. Burnett. M.P. for Temuka, to address a meeting at Mount Somers early next week. FARMER FOUND DEAD IN PADDOCK WHANGAREI. February 4. Reginald Trevor Wells, aged 45, a Tikipunga farmer, was found dead in a paddock at the back of his property this morning. A piece of rope was beside the body. During the war Wells enlisted with the Taranaki Company, Ist Wellington Regiment, and was gravely wounded, first at Gallipoli, then in France. He was a constant sufferer from war disabilities.
He is survived by a widow and a young family.
