The weather forecast for Canterbury and Marlborough, issued at 5 pjn. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: — Moderate to strong north-east to northerly winds. Weather cloudy ; to overcast, and rain probable. I' Temperatures warm. Seas slight | to moderate. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is;— Moderate but increasing northeast to northerly winds. Weather cloudy to overcast and in places misty or foggy, with rain probable. Seas slight to moderate, but rising later. DOMINION The Dominion forecast is:— Weather cloudy to overcast, and in places misty <y foggy; fairly general rain probable, heavy in places from Nelson and Marlb irough northwards, with some flooding In the northern half of the North Island. Temperatures warm. The recent anti-cyclone is passing eastwards off the South Island. A cyclone of moderate intensity is now centred north-west of Cape Maria van Diemen, and moving southwards, and pressure Is low also over South-Eastern Australia. Winds —South-easterly in parts of the Cook Strait area; otherwise eastei’ly to north-easterly predominating, strong to gale force north of Kavvhia and East Cape, elsewhere light to moderate, but freshening. Seas (New Zealand waters) —Rough to high north of East Cape, and rough off shore north of Kawhia; elsewhere slight to moderate, but rising norm of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura. Eastern Tasman Sea—Easterly winds, strong to gale force in the northern portion, with rough seas. Moderate but increasing north-east to northerly, winds in the southern portion, with moderate but rising seas. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The skies were overcast in Christchurch yesterday, and there was a strong north-easterly wind. The maximum temperature was 67.3 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky waa cloudy and an easterly -wind was blowing. The thermometer registered 62 degrees and the barometer was steady at 30.05 inches. The maximum "temperature was 78.8 degrees and the barometer at 3.30 p.m. registered 30.06 inches.
