EMPIRE GAMES VENUE
NEXT CONTEST MAY BE HELD IN CANADA SYDNEY, February 3. The British Empire Games Federation will meet in Sydney to decide on the venue of the next Empire Games to be held in 1942. It is considered certain that the games will allotted to Canada. ruth Africa will not apply, and it is thought that it would be unwise to hold games in New Zealand so soon after the carnival in Australia. The New Zealand cyclist, Ulmer, in a training ride, registered lmin 17 l-ssec for 1000 metres' time trial. On an asphalt track Mills (England) broke the Australian mile unpaced record from a standing start, his time, 2min 6sec, being seven seconds below the previous best. The New Zealand Empire swimmers competed in the Enfield caiaival last night. N. Crump won the 110 yards scratch race in lmin 3sec. Hanan won the 220 yards scratch race in 2min 34 2-ssec.
