1 MR JAMES A. KEARTON SELECTED tTBJCS* 4.SSOCI ATIOM rELEJRAM.1 WELLINGTON, February 2. Mr Janies A. Kearton, of Waimate, a farmer, has been chosen to contest the Temuka seat for the Labour Party at the next General Election. Born in Cumberland in 1894, Mr Kearton is an Associate in Arts of the Oxford University. He came to New Zealand in 1911 and was engaged in farm work and later in public works construction. He served in the Great War with the seventh reinforcements in France and was twice wounded. He took up farming in the Waimate district in 1920. Mr Kearton is a member of the executive of the local Returned Soldiers’ Association. The following sitting members of Parliament have been unanimously endorsed by the members of the party in the electorates concerned and will contest the election as the official Labour candidates;— Messrs J. Robertson (Masterton), A. G. Hultquist (Bay of Plenty), and J. B. Cotterill (Wanganui).
