LAST PERFORMANCE OF SEASON
♦ “GAIETIES” COMPANY THIS EVENING The spectacular revue, “A Brighter 1938.” was last night presented by Stanley McKay’s Gaieties Revue Company at St. James’ Theatre before a large audience, and another new production. “Good-Bye-e,” will be the attraction for to-night's farewell performance. As all the members of the company have become popular with Christchurch audiences, an excellent house is anticiaptcd. and Joe Lawman and all his clever associates are assured of a rousing farewell. When a company has played a season of several weeks, there is generally a special note of comedy allied to sentiment in the good-bye messages of the principals. On the conclusion of the programme streamers will be thrown from the stage and from the auidence, and an atmosphere of revelry will prevail. Then Joe Lawman will request the audience to join the Gaieties in "Auld Lang Syne.” and after that “Good-bye, Christchurch Town.” Seats may be reserved at the D.1.C.. and day sale tickets are procurable as usual.
