CHILD FALLS INTO
RIVER
PLAYING WITH LAUNCH AT NEW BRIGHTON
One of three children, aged five. Six, and seven yea rs , who were playing on fhe banks of the Avon river opposite hi end of Pratt street, New Brighton n Monday, fell into the water & while niavina with a launch, but managed fo clinf to the stern. The launch broke away and floated upstream A chi d Marie Nesbitt. aged 14. flowed the launch along the bank and ciossing the swamp, plunged into the stream and brought the child, who was we nigh exhausted, ashore. The child made a quick recovery, however.

WESTPORT, January 25 Horace Willman. married, aged Jl vears. was admitted to the Buller Hospital this afternoon with five fractured ribs, and, it is believed, internal injuries. He suffered the injuries in a fall of coal in the Charming Creek His condition is reported to be satisfactory.
