WEDDING

SHEA—REID

The wedding of June Patricia, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs G. Reid, Sarah street, Timaru, and John Gerard, eldest son of Mr and Mrs J. A. Shea, Stafford street, Timaru, took place yesterday afternoon at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Timaru. The Rev. Father W. Peoples, S.M., officiated, and Mrs N. D. Mangos was at the organ. The church was decorated with gladioli, carnations, and roses.

The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a frock of ivory satin beaute, cut on Empire lines, the skirt widening at the back into a train. The bodice had tiny buttons and loops down the front to meet the V of the skirt, and the very full sleeves were caught into deep, tight cuffs. Her veil was of wide meshed net and was arranged from an uncommon cap of orange blossom buds and leaves. She carried a sheaf of Regal lilies. The bridesmaids were Misses Valerie Reid, a sister of the bride, Doris Shea, the bridegroom's sister, and Beth Miller.

Mr H. Shea attended his brother as best man and Messrs G. C. Reid, brother of the bride; and J. Malthus

were groomsmen. Messrs Douglas and Cyril Shea, brothers of the bridegroom, were ushers.

The bridesmaids' attractive frocks were of rose pink spotted net over taffeta. The short bodices had uncommon necklines, drawn up to a heading at the throat and finished with a tiny bow at the front. Similar bows of taffeta also trimmed the bodices at the back. The balloon sleeves were composed of alternate bands of taffeta and net to match alternate bands on the wide skirts from the hem to the kneeline. Their little caps of net were finished with twisted bands of taffeta and each attendant carried a bouquet of pmk carnations and shot silk roses. At a reception held in the Bay tearooms, Mrs Reid received her guests wearing a navy blue and green romame frock with a navy georgette redingote. Her hat was of navy straw and she wore a spray of pink carnations.

Mrs Shea wore a basqued frock of black georgette cloque, the vestee with wide revers being of white rouleaux embroidery. Her black straw hat was finished with white ribbon, and she wore a spray of red carnations on her
