GOVERNMENT HOUSING SCHEME
TO TUB EDITOE OF THB PRESS. Sir, —Following considerable criticism of the Government's housing scheme at Spreydon, which appeared in the correspondence columns of "The Press" some time ago, Mr J. A. Lee, Parliamentary Under-Secretary in Charge of Housing, intimated that he was prepared to examine and make use of, if practicable, any scheme critics might have to put forward. One critic, a retired builder, if I remember rightly, undertook to submit a scheme which would provide for better and cheaper houses than the Government's.
Since I am deeply interested in the question of housing, I should be glad to learn whether the scheme was ever submitted, and, if so, the details. —Yours, etc., C. January 24, 1938.
