STRIKE AT NEWCASTLE IRON WORKS
MEN SEEK ASSISTANCE FROM KINDRED UNIONS (Received January 24, 10.10 p.m.) SYDNEY, January 24. Production ceased at Lysaght’s Newcastle iron works to-day, and 1400 idle men, who gave 14 days’ notice on January 11, are casting round for financial support from kindred unions. It is expected that the Industrial Commission will try to arrange a conference between the parties.
