TEES TO SAIL THIS MORNING
NO SI'DDEN DISCONTINUANCE OF SERVICE
After being delayed at Lyttelton since Tuesday, pending negotiations for her sale, the steamer Tees is to sail this morning for the Chatham Islands. , ~,„.. Yesterday the vessel was docked lor "sighting" her hull by a ship surveyor, and she undocked last night An announcement was made yesterday morning by Messrs W. W. Toy and Company, agents for the owners, that the result of the negotiations would not affect the sailing of the Tees on her present trip and the service would not be abandoned without warning to those concerned It is stated that wage costs, particularly for the large amount of overtime necessary at the islands, had resulted in the Tees not paying her way in recent months. Moreover, one of the fish freezing works at the islands had closed down, thus reducing the amount of cargo for shipment.
