It lasted about 25 seconds. It appears to have been faithsevere in the Tinui, Castlepoint, acd Tewharau districts, where in one® two instances chimneys were dasaged, and crockery and other artiefe dislodged from shelves. The keeper of the CasUepoic lighthouse reports no damage th® beyond broken crockery. The direction appeared to be from north-ea: to south-west.
