The Hon. Adam Hamilton and Mrs Hamilton, who spent the week-end in Christchurch, left last night for their home in the south. Mr and Mrs W. J. Broadfoot and Miss Broadfoot (Waitomo), who arrived in Christchurch on Saturday morning, returned north the same evening. Mrs Fred Kitchingham (Greymouth), who has been visiting Mrs Edwin Hamilton, Papanui road, returned to the West Coast on Saturday. Miss Ruth Northcroft will leave to-morrow by the Awatea for Sydney. Miss Ethel White (Auckland, formerly of Otane. Hawke’s Bay), who has been for a month’s tour in the south, is the guest of Miss A. Bowker, Mcrivale lane. Mrs David Morgan, who has been spending several months with her mother’, Mrs Guy Pascoe, Oxford terrace, will leave Wellington by the Rangitata on December 22, for England, and from there will go to Malta to join her husband in their new home. Her mother will accompany her to Wellington. Mi's John Tapley (Cashmere Hills) has left for the north to meet her brother, Mr E. C. Rowe (Wadestown), who will return from a two years’ visit to Great Britain and the Continent. Miss T. Davis and Mr L. Davis (“Koari,” Chapter street) have returned from a two weeks’ tour of Lewis Pass, Westport, Nelson, and Marlborough. Miss Pamela Fell (Nelson), who has been in England for the last three years, returned last week. Her sister, Mrs Bernard Thoms, will return to Scotland with her small son at the end of December. Miss Eileen Davies returned to Nelson last week after an extended tour in England and abroad. Mrs R. Ovcrend (Christchurch) is visiting friends and relatives at Little River. Mrs H. Sexton (Sumner) is the guest of Mrs J. Milligan, Little River. Mrs W. Wilson (Brisbane) is the guest of her brother, Mr F. Crockett, Western Valley, Little River. Mr Hugh Dent, of the well-known publishing firm in London, and Mrs Dent will arrive to-morrow morning in Christchurch, where they will spend a few days before going south. Miss E. N. Sampson, for 19 years headmistress of the Keith Street Infants’ School, Wanganui, and president of the'Wanganui branch of the New Zealand Educational Association, was the guest of honour at an afternoon party. She will retire on superannuation at the end of this year, and will leave for a trip abroad early in February.
