REPORTED JAPANESE PEACE TERMS

Domination Of North And Central China

INTENTION TO CREATE PUPPET GOVERNMENT

Nanking Believed To Be At Mercy

Of Invaders

Japan’s peace terms, according to semi-official information, are complete domination of north and central China and the establishment of a Japanese concession in Shanghai. It is reported that the Japanese Cabinet has decided to withdraw recognition from the present Chinese Government, and to further the creation of “ another China.” This is taken to imply the creation of a government to replace that of Marshal Ghiang Kai-shek. The Japanese are reported to have consolidated their occupation of a small section of Nanking; but observers assume that they can take complete possession of the city when they desire. The Chinese tactics, it is believed, are to draw the Japanese into the hinterland after the fall of the capital. Although desperate resistance by the Chinese at Nany king is reported, it is considered that the Japanese cannot fail to take the city; although official Japanese claims are not relied upon.
