CHRISTCHURCH, CITY OF WEEPS

TO THE ZDITOS OP THE PEESS. Sir, —I notice a letter in “The Press,” dealing with the rank growth of grass, etc., on the streets in Christchurch. I am pleased that someone has drawn public attention to this matter. We have a city that we can be proud of, and it is a pity that anything of this nature is allowed to detract from its appearance. Even if chiping is not done, the grass could be trimmed up more regularly. At the present time several of our streets bear an air of neglect which does not become our city. It may be a good idea if the Beautifying Associate* could take this matter up with the Christchurch City Council.—Yours, etc., CIVIS. December 11, 1937.
