AUSTRALIA TO ABANDON THE LICENSING SYSTEM (Received December 8, 5.5 p.m.) CANBERRA, December 8. The Minister for Customs (Mr T. W. White) announced in the House of Representatives that the Government would abandon the licensing system on which its trade diversion policy was based and would revert to the use of a tariff to protect Australian industries.
