DOMAINS BOARD LEVY

LIMIT RAISED TO £SOOO BY AMENDMENT TO ACT CFrom Our Parliamentary Renorter] WELLINGTON, December 8. The Christchurch Domains Amendment Bill, which extends from £3500 to £SOOO the amount the Christchurch Domains Board can levy from contributing local authorities, was passed in the House of Representatives this evening. In 1923 the Christchurch Domains Act was amended to allow of a limit of expenditure of £SOOO, but a proviso was attached stating that none of the contributory local authorities would be liable without consent to pay a larger amount than would be apportioned if the amount of the board’s estimated requirements was only £3500. This new measure, which was in charge of Mr T. H. McCombs (Government, Lyttelton) deletes that proviso. Another provision empowers the board to make unauthorised expenditure not exceeding £25.
