FIRE DESTROYS BIG AREA OF FLAX

LOSS OF HUNDREDS OF POUNDS (PBBSS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, December 8. More than 500 acres of the 640-acre plantation of flax in the Mungaroa Valley. Hutt County, valued at hundreds of pounds, have been destroyed in a spectacular fire which lit up the entire valley and, at times, was a vast area of flame 20 feet high. The flax was the property of the Wellington Flaxgrowers’ Corporation, Ltd.
