INTER-ISLAND CALLS CONCESSION RATES BEING USED
An hour-to-hour record of Spe®s across Cook Strait was recently tak* 3 by the Post Office to find out the Unproved degree of expedition made P®*|, sible by the facilities afforded on . new coaxial cable. Seven c^ an ? were in operation between Well®* ton and Christchurch, and three tween Wellington and Blenheim- , The busiest hour of the working ■ was found to be from 10 am- tO . 1 a.m., when the whole system cana - calls totalling -353 speech minutes, an hour after lunch, from 2 p.m- * p.m.. was another active period, speech minutes being used. . teS The total number of speech mmu‘ paid for on the system during whole 24 hours was 4046; ana actly half of this business ' va _ corded during the time when co rion rates prevailed. Careful note was mane of tne taken to provide communication it had been demanded by the i scriber. During most of the ““gye hours, the wait was less than minutes, although from 3 p.m. p.m. an exceptional volume of caused a maximum delay, in | instances, of 14 minutes.
