WEDNESDAY (Before Mr E. C. Levvey, S.M.) SPEEDING Patricia Ann Courage was convicted and fined £3 and ordered to pay costs for speeding. The charge was brought I by the Heathcote County Council's Inspector, Mr A. Tait. UNLICENSED RADIO DEALER Spencer Heaton Ellis, prosecuted by the Post and Telegraph Department for whom Mr A. W. Brown appeared, was fined £5 and ordered to pay costs for unlicensed radio dealing at the public works camp at Parnassus. REMANDED Alexander Francis Edward Begg, a labourer, aged 20 (Mr K. G. Archer), was remanded until December 13 on a charge of stealing books and carpenters’ tools valued at £ll 7s 6d, the property of James Frank Logie. Bail of £25, with ono surety of £25, was allowed. FALSE ENTRIES Charged by the Labour Department (Mr R. T, Bailey) with making false entries in a wages and time-book, Jessie Sutherland was fined £2 and ordered to pay costs. Mr Bailey said that the defendant had a business in the city and had paid an employee 30s, entering a week in the wages book. Ho agreed that it was a foolish rather than a malicious action. CHARGE DISMISSED A charge of falling to register as nurserymen for the sale of tomato plants, brought against Herbert Cecil Church and George Clifford Gordon (Mr T. A. Gresson). was dismissed. RANGIORA (Before Mr H. A, Young, S.M.) Judgment for plaintiff by default, with costs, was given in each of the following undefended civil cases:—L. M. King (Mr R. K, Kippenberger) v. F. C. W.
