ONE PER CENT. REFUND

INSTRUCTIONS TO CLUBS (By Carbine.) All racing clubs in New Zealand have been officially notified that legislation authorising them to retain 1 per cent, of the 5 per cent, totalisator tax has been passed by Parliament, and directions have been given the clubs as to the procedure they should follow now. The instructions run as follows: Those clubs which have paid the full 5 per cent. Government totalisator tax for meetings already held during the current racing year require to make immediate application to their local Assistant Commissioner of Stamp Duties for a refund of 1 per cent, of such tax. Those clubs which have not yet held meetings will retain 1 per cent, out of the 5 per cent. Government totalisator tax up to July 31, 1938.
