WOMENS DIVISION OF FARMERS’ UNION
NORTH CANTERBURY EXECUTIVE Yesterday morning Mrs Colin McIntosh presided at a well-attended meeting of the North Canterbury, Provincial Executive of the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union, held in Christchurch. A welcome was extended to Mrs A. M. Carpenter, who has returned from a trip abroad; to Mrs H. G. Denham, whom members have not had the opportunity of welcoming since her return from England; and to Mrs L. Coop, who has been for a trip to Auswas the last meeting for the year, members partook of morning tea and of a Christmas cake made and presented by Mrs Mclntosh. . A motion qf sympathy was passed with a member who is ill in hospital, and with those who have suffered bereavement since the last meeting. A letter was received from the Rangiora Health Camp Committee soliciting donations for clothing for children in camp in order that all may be dressed alike. It was decided to send £2 from the provincial executive funds. An appeal for collectors was made by the Karitane Hospital Appeal Committee. Mrs Mclntosh commended this to the sympathyctic consideration of all branches. Branches were reminded that remits for the 1938 conference must reach the provincial secretary by February 23. The secretary (Miss F. L, Cooper) explained the new conditions regarding bays in the next New Zealand Industries Fair. It was decided that branches should consider the question of again having these bays, and members should be prepared to discuss the matter at the February meeting.
It was arranged that at the end of the next provincial executive meeting, the provincial secretary should address presidents, secretaries, and treasurers regarding the proper keeping of the branch accounts. Mrs Mclntosh gave a Christmas message to those present, asking them to think of others at this festive season, and to give loyalty to members and to their divisions. Mrs Lyttle suitably responded on behalf of those present, and thanked Mrs Mclntosh for her wonderful work as president. Mrs McIntosh also spoke of the work of the secretax-y, Miss Cooper,
