PULLEY—ROSS The marriage was celebrated recently at the St. John’s Anglican Church, Rangiora, of Elsie May, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs C. W. Ross. Bennetts, to George Wallace, third son of Mr and Mrs V. H. Pulley, Rangiora. Archdeacon A. C. Purchas performed the ceremony, and Miss N. Bailey was the organist. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a trained frock of ivory satin, cut on classical lines. The cowl neckline was caught at the back by a row of tiny buttons, and the sleeves full on the shoulders tapered to points over the wrists. Her embroidered veil fell from a coronet of orange blossom, and she carried a sheaf of arum lilies. HANSEN—BURRELL Tfip wedding was celebrated recently at the Durham Street Methodist Church, of Edna Nelson, only daughte of Mr and Mrs Walter Burrell (Parnassus), to Emil Johannes elder son of Mr and Mrs Julius Hansen, Hasle, bride, who was escorted by her father wore a frock of white satin made on classical lines, the skirt forming a fan-shaped tram at the back. Her veil of cut tulle was gathered into a coronet of orange blossom and she carried an armlet of arum lilies, roses, carnations, and ferns. There were two bridesmaids. Miss Valmai Reid (Christchurch), who wore a frock of pink satin made on lines similar to the bride’s frock, and trim* med at the neckline with green flowers: and Miss Nina Hodgetts (Kaikoura), whose frock of green satin was trimmed with pink flowers. Both attendants wore halo head-dresses of pleated tulle trimmed with flowers to match their frocks, and carried bouquets of pink sweet peas. The bridegroom was attended by Mr C. Victor Martin as best man and Mr Mark Pearson as groomsman. At the reception held at Frascati, the guests were received by Mrs Burrell and Miss M. Lane. The bride’s mother wore a black suit, a white lace blouse, and a black hat trimmed with two white organdi roses. She carried red roses. Miss Lane wore a navy suit, white satin blouse, and a navy hat trimmed with a spray of flowers. Her bouquet was of golden roses. When Mr and Mrs E. J. Hansen left for their wedding tour the bride was wearing a frock of brown satin and beige lace, a brown straw toque with an eye veil, and a brown fur coat. Mr and Mrs Hansen will make their home at Kawhai, Kaikoura.

SLOAN—WHYTE At St. Mary's Church, Addington, the wedding was celebrated recently by the Rev F. V. Fisher of John Wilbur, Sdeft son of Mr and Mrs J. Sloan fCashel street, Larwood), to Olive Bertha, only daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Whyte (Boulton avenue, Spreydon). Mrs Loe was the organist. The bride, who was escorted by net father, wore a frock of white lace mounted on cream and finished with orange blossom at the neckline. The skirt was trained, and oyer it was arranged her long veil of tulle, which was trimmed with satin ribbon, and attached to a halo head-dress of pearlsShe carried a shower bouquet of lilies. She was attended by Misses Hazel Button and Kathleen Sloan, who wore frocks of salmon-pink and daffodil lace respectively, made in redingote style. The frocks were edged with ruffles of net which formed Medici collars, and the sleeves were puffed. Their small frilled hats, worn on the. side of the head, were tied at the back with velvet ribbons, and their shower bouquets were of lemon irises and abutilons and pink poppies. The flower-girl. Miss Betty Harvey, wore a Salmon-pink net frock trimmed with pipings of satin, and her hat was tied under the chin with a wide satin ribbon. She carried a Victorian posy to tone with her frock. Mr A. Sloan was best man, and Mr Raymond Whyte was groomsman. The ushers were Mi- James Lester and Mr Ralph Sloan. The reception was held in the Selwyn Street Hall. Mrs Whyte wore a navy self-patterned frock of paisley satin, and a navy Baku straw hat trimmed with flowers. Her bouquet was of autumn tints. Mrs Sloan wore a black frock with a white vestee, and a black straw hat trimmed with a posy of flowers. She carried red roses. The bride travelled in a navy pinstriped suit, with a navy hat and white lace blouse. Mr and Mrs J. W. Sloan will live at Spreydon.

KAY—LINDBOM The wedding of Edna Mary, only daughter of Mr and Mrs J._H. Lindbom (Cobden),to Rupert Arthur, only son of Mr and Mrs John Kay, took place at Holy Trinity Church, Greymouth, on Saturday. The Yen. Archdeacon J. A. Jermyn officiated, and Miss Vonnie Millar was the organist. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a frock of ivory silk faille, cut on empire lines, with a softly cowled neckline, the sleeves and bodice being of silk lace. The bodice wafe trimmed and the high-waisted skirt fell in folds- at the back to form a short train. Her long veil of embroidered tulle was held in place with a coronet of orange blossom, and she carried a loose sheaf* of lavender and white irises. Miss Culceye Turley was bridesmaid. The reception was held at Herb Moore’s where the bride’s mother received the guests. Mr and Mrs R. A. Kay left on Saturday for Christchurch, ..

COSTELLO—SPOOR The wedding was celebrated recently at the Sacred Heart Church, Addington, of Owen Michael John, second son of Mr and Mrs M. Costello (Addington), to Eileen Edna, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Spoor (Lyttelton). The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Father O’Connor. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a slightly trained frock of white satin beaute cut on princess lines, the cowl front being softened by a spray of hand-made flowers. Her tulle veil was arranged from a coronet of orange blossom, and she carried a shower bouquet of lilies and roses. Frocks of variegated net over apple green satin were chosen by her three bridesmaids, the Misses Phyllis Woolley, cousin of the bride, and her two sisters, Crissy and Mona. The frocks were fitting to the knees with full godets forming flares to the hems. They wore hats of the same material with brims of stiffened net caught at the side with ribbon, and their bouquets were- of pink roses and carnations. The bridegroom was attended by his two brothers, Messrs W. and J. Costello, and his cousin, Mr M. Bunting. The reception was held at the Staretta Hall. The guests were received by the bride’s mother, who was wearing a brown floral frock with a baku straw hat to tone. Her bouquet was of lemon tinted abutilons. RUSSELL—LEA The wedding was celebrated recently at St. James’ Church, Riccarton, of Florence, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs Lawford Lea (Greendale), to Clifford Walter, younger son of Mr and Mrs A. A. Russell (Greendale). The ceremony-was performed by. the Rev. S. J. Cooper, and Miss Burleigh (Sumner) was organist. The bride was escorted by her father. Her frock of magnolia satin was made with long sleeves pointed over the hands, and trimmed with magnolia satin buttons to match those on the front of the bodice. Her magnolia tulle veil was held in place wtih two sprays of orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of cream roses, freesias, and lilies-of-the-valley. The bridesmaid was Miss Freda Russell, sister of the bridegroom. She wore a frock of delphinium blue crinkled crepe, and a deep cream straw hat trimmed with blue flowers. Her bouquet was composed of roses in pink and lemon shades. Mr Orlando Salvidge was best man. At the reception, held at the Frascati, the guests were received by, the bride’s mother, who wore a black crepe satin frock, patterned in red, green, and cream, and a black hat. Her flowers were red roses. The bridegroom’s mother wore a black suit and a black hat trimmed with a floral spray. She carried autumn shaded flowers. HART—BEGG At St. Mary’s Church, Addington, the marriage was celebrated recently of Yolande Daphne, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs George Begg (Kirwee) to Selby Joseph, second son of Mrs J. Hart (Kimberley). The ceremony was performed by the Rev. W. H. S. Hine, and Mrs Lowe was organist. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a frock of ivory cloque, the bodice being softly draped from a swathed neckline and finished at the back with small bows. Similar bows also weighted the pointed train of the skirt. Her embroidered veil formed a second train, and was worn ever the face and held to the head with a bow of orange blossom. She carried a covered prayer book, the gift of St. George's parishioners. Mrs W, R. Davis attended as matron of honour, wearing a slightly trained floral frock of blue french crepe and a jacket of silk net to match trimmed with ruched bands. Her bandeau was also of ruched net with a trail of forget-me-nots. A posy of forget-me-nots trimmed the waist, and she carried a satin covered prayer book. Mr W. R. Davis was best man. On leaving the church, a lucky horse-shpe was presented to the bride by her small nephew, Master Murray Wilson. A reception was held at Frascati, where the guests were received by the bride’s mother, who wore a floral frock of black pin-spot silk, an edge-to-edge coat of black triple wool georgette relieved with white, and a black Breton hat of Baku straw banded with cire ribbon. In her bouquet were lemon irises and blue delphiniums. The bridegroom’s mother wore a suit of brown worsted and a hat of taallibuntl straw to match. Her bouquet was of autumn-tinted abutilons. For travelling, the bride wore a blue frock of wool georgette, a white floral jacket, and a blue hat of gramophone straw. She carried a light blue flecked tailored coat.

BREITMEYER—HAMMOND Much interest was taken in the wedding of Miss Doreen Hammond, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs E. W. Hammond tßarry’s Bay), to Lindy, son of Mr and Mrs Leon Breitmeyer (Little River), which was celebrated recently at St. Patrick’s Church, Akaroa. The bride and bridegroom are descendants of two families who were among the early settlers on the Peninsula. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Father Browne. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a becoming frock of ivory pearl satin, made on simple lines, the long sleeves being tucked, end the yoke shirred. Her veil, which formed a train, was arranged in coronet style, with orange blossom, and she carried a shower bouquet of white flowers. Miss Jean Glynan, cousin of the bride, attended as bridesmaid, wearing a frock of pale blue georgette patterned in a floral design, knife pleating trimming the neckline, yoke and long sleeves. THOMAS—HELLEW ELL The marriage was celebrated on Saturday at East Belt Methodist Church of Henry Arnold, second son of Mr and Mrs J. H. Thomas, St. Albans, and Ida, only daughter of the late Mr W. and Mrs Hellewell, Avonside. The

ceremony was performed by the Rev. H. L. Fiebig, and Mr R. Sherris was organist. The bride, who was escorted by Mr C. C. Lamb, wore a frock of ivory shadow lace over shell-pink, and a sash of ninon reaching to the hem of a full skirt, which fell in a short train. With this was worn a short flared coat of ivory georgette, with long puffed sleeves, fitting tightly at the wrists. Her veil was of plain cut tulle, falling from a halo of orange blossom buds, and she carried a Victorian bouquet of pink roses, sweet peas, and love-in-a-mist set in pink tulle. The bridesmaid, Miss Gwynneth Thomas, wore a frpek of ciel blue figured angelskin satin, with touches of pale pink at the neck and waist, and a plain full-length blue ninon coat. She carried a sheaf of delphiniums and wore a wreath of flowers to match. Mr L. A. Thomas was best man. The reception was held at Ballantynes, where the guests were received by the parents of the bride and bridegroom. For travelling, the bride wore a smart figured grey ensemble and hat to tone. Mr and Mrs H. A. Thomas will make their home at Avonside.
