MORNING GATHERING
SALE OF HEALTH STAMPS DISCUSSED ■ The necessity and urgency of selling health stamps for the maintenance of health camps was emphasised on Saturday by Mr E. R. Myers, an officer of the Health Department, Wellington, who is visiting Christchurch. A large section of the public, Mr Myers said, had the idea that the money subscribed for the King George V Memorial Fund would be sufficient to maintain permanent and summer health camps. This was not the case. The King George V Memorial Fund would be used for the erection and equipment of permanent health camps. For their maintenance, and for the equipment and maintenance of summer health camps, health stamp sales and art unions would be relied upon. Mr Myers was speaking at an informal gathering arranged by the Christchurch local area committee of the Federation of Health Camps, a body constituted for the sale of health stamps, and he urged the members of the committee to work hard to further the sale of the stamps. Mrs W. F. Kent-Johnston, convener of the committee, presided at the party, which was held at the grey room at Beath's, and welcomed Mr Myers, Miss Cora Wilding, founder and honorary secretary of the Sunlight League of New Zealand, Dr. D. E. Currie, chairman of the league, Mr St. J. J. Dunne, secretary, and Mr Hugh Hunter, a recently-elected member of the district executive of the Health Camp Federation. Others present were Dr. Baker McLaglen, Mrs J. Lorimer, Mrs J. E. Hobson, Miss M. Enright, Miss J. Musker, Miss L. Gilmour, Mrs H. Wyatt, Mrs Baxter O'Neill, Mrs Sidney Clayton, Mrs R. J. McLaren. Miss B. Nurse, Miss Patrick, Miss Kathleen O'Connor, Mrs J. S. Kelly, Miss Grace Wilson, and Mrs L. Robertson.
