FORTY-FOUR POSITIONS FOUNf

The report for the week of the State Placement Officer shows that work ®r 44 persons was found. Of these, 19 were permanent positions, and 26 temporary. Apart from these many men were placed on subsidise** work with local bodies, and several with State departments. There was “ noticeable improvement in the call tradesmen, and included in the pia<*£ ments were six fitters and turners, carpenters, painters, a plasterer, one electrician, the latter going South Westland. There has been a very steady demand for farm workers, an all local demands have been sau fled. It is expected that a call hands for shearing will start towarns the end of the month, and alreaoy several workers have been bespoken.
