FAR EAST RELIEF FUND
♦ "£IO.OOO is wanted in one month," states the publicity officer for the FarEast relief fund in appealing (for the joint council of the Order of St. John and the New Zealand Red Cross Society) for subscriptions. "New Zealand is now enjoying a wave of prosperity, and it should be easier at present to support the St. John—Red Cross joint appeal for Far East relief," the appeal adds. "In fact, a donation of money could well be an act of thanksgiving for the peace, prosperity, and security we at present enjoy. "Surgeons and medical supplies are our special quota to assist the International Red Cross. If we refuse to assist when we really can, we actually help the progress of destruction further forward. Non-co-operation with the merciful means co-operation with the unmerciful." Donations may be sent through newspaper lists. Red Cross stamps, to l raise funds, are also being sold.
