WOMEN'S GAMES COMPETITION MATCHES THIS WEEK PRACTICES ON SATURDAY There will be 10 teams entered in the women's cricket competitions this season —four in the senior grade and six in the junior. This was indicated on Saturday when the various clubs held practice games to decide the personnel of their teams for the first of the competition I matches this week. In the senior grade, there will be Mai Moa, Technical, St. ! Albans, and Beckenham, and in the junior grade St. Albans, Technical, Beckenham, Malvern, Millers, Ltd., and Mai Moa. With the proposed tour of the New Zealand team to Sydney next January, and the preliminary games that the selection of the team will entail, the season should be full of interest. The majority of last season's players will be playing again this season and with two new clubs —Malvern and St. Albans—there will be many new players. The Mai Moa senior team this year will again imlude M. Marks, S. Garner, P. Blackler, E. Wormald, and V. Belworthy. M. Cosgrove, M. Creagh, L. Newell, and G. Guthrie from last season's B team, will also be included. The Beckenham senior team will include E. Jones and M. Jones who last season, played for Technical, and F. Campbell, E. Irving, C. Cawtheray, M. Edwards, and E. Jewell from last year's senior team. A. Bowen, who played for the senior team two seasons ago, will again turn out this year. Technical will have R. Martin, M. Taylor, P. Taylor, M. Phillips, M. Norman, and J. Head from last year's senior team, J. Barbour and D. Armstrong from the junior team, and M. Preece, who played last year for Old Girls. There are five of last year's Old Girls players in the new St. Albans team. They are H. Watson, P. Farquhar, J. Webster, J. McMillan, and M. Mcintosh. The remainder of the team will probably be all newcomers.
